Lately, I’ve been working on this pattern from Ravelry titled “Fox Paws”.
It is loaded with techniques I’ve never done before, even though I’ve been knitting since I was four. I’m not sure if I am just a bit scatterbrained right now, or if this is just a stinker of a pattern. Maybe a little of both!!! What I am sure of is that I needed to do something more relaxing for a few minutes if I’m ever going to finish Fox Paws!!
So, I went to the big ol’ stash closet and opened a drawer. It was loaded with yarns of every texture in luscious mauvey shades. Skimming the top of a few bags waiting to be put away, I scored some turquoisey greens and a tiny bit of orange/rose laceweight silk mohair. Can these colors play nicely together? We shall see!
Anytime I want to relax and knit, I try to scrap the pattern and just take off in some general direction. I had just found Jane Thornley on Ravelry, and she had some “freeform patterns”. Now, to me that is an oxymoron, but I was intrigued. So I began with her “pattern”. I think for anyone who hasn’t tried Freeform, these patterns may be a great start, but after the first ten inches, I was changing stuff.
At this point, I am knitting from both ends on two different needle sizes. The ideas are coming so fast that I can’t wait to finish this sweater so I can get back to doing things my way. I was definitely right about this being a good way to relax, though! Maybe we need to have a group for people who want to be free!!
Where can I get the pattern for this beautiful shawl?
Hi Marlene, If you have Ravelry, you can find all of Xandy Peters’ patterns here https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#sort=best&inline=&query=xandy%20peters
Just let me know if you have any problems, and I can buy the Fox Paws pattern for you. Have fun! It’s a really different way to knit!! Gretchen
