The cost of Paternayan – Colonial (3-ply wool yarn), per 1/4 pound Hank (170 yds) is $21.82 (4/2/24) and for 10 strand (8.8-yd) Skeins is $2,00.
Paternayan style yarn is one of my all-time favorite yarns because it is SO versatile. It comes in 300+ colors broken into gorgeous gradient ranges of 5 to 7 colors. It can be used for needlepoint, knitting, crochet, felting, rug hooking / binding and to create or repair Persian style rugs. And – the coolest thing of all – it is a 3-ply strand that can be knit as worsted, sport or lace weight, or needlepointed on canvases from 10 to 18 mesh just by choosing one, two or three plies. If I am ever stranded on a desert island, I hope some Paternayan will float ashore!!!

NOTICE: In 2019, Saco River Dyehouse, owner of the “Paternayan” name, went out of business. When Saco River bought the trademark, Colonial Needle Company bought the right to produce the Paternayan color palette using original 3-ply Persian wool. Colonial Needle is the only existing 3-Ply Persian yarn produced with the original Paternayan palette. We have found it to be a wonderful 3-ply Paternayan style yarn.

Order quantities for Paternayan Colonial 3-Ply Persian yarn:

• Skein:  10, 3-ply strands that are each 32″ long totaling 8.8 yards.  Our Skeins are pre-cut for immediate use in needlepoint or embroidery.  Not knotted, twisted, tangled or curled, they are straight and ready to go.
• Hank:  170 continuous yards of 3-ply Persian wool.  The fiber is uncut and in a hank that is 64″ around and ready for knitting, felting, embroidery and needlepoint.
