This little “sketchbook” titled “Crazy” just about sums it up, for me. I’m nuts in every conceivable way. I’m crazy-excited about all the projects I’m working on, crazy-thankful that everyone in my immediate circle is healthy, crazy-hopeful that the future holds some exciting changes that will make life safer and kinder for all of us. And, I’m crazy-grateful for the heroes, in all walks of life, who are carrying us through the high water.
Today I’m writing about this little sketchbook because it is the kind of immersive, thought-provoking, judgement-free project that can transport you to the “zone”. That’s the happy place where you lose track of time and current events while trying out, in a small way, some ideas that could become bigger works. For those of you who need a purpose for every project, binding these little experiments into a “book” can provide a satisfying sense of completion and a fun reference for later.
It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a crazy-quilter! In the future, I’ll share sketchbooks that include knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery, hand-painted pages, hand-marbled fabrics, silk ribbon embroidery, beadwork, collage, freelace, and lots more. Really, there isn’t anything that cannot be included.
In the pictures included here, you’ll see hand-embroidery using silk buttonhole twist, fancy Mokuba ribbons, novelty yarns, Czech pressed-glass beads and antique buttons. The backgound is an antique crazy quilt top that was never finished or embellished.
