Viva la Paper Towel!

I am REALLY messy. But, sometimes my messes seem beautiful to me, or at least, interesting. These are pages from a “blank” book I made from the paper towels I had used to clean up after a series of big painting sessions. I’ve always intended to use this as a journal, but I end up getting mesmerized by the pages, just like they are. Where there were holes, I sewed snippets of marbled ribbons or fancy trims over them. I bound them into a cover of geometric, woven silks. I’m not sure if this means I’ll have 600 cats, soon, or that my Scottish heritage is showing (you know, the thrifty part), but it makes me happy. Nuff said.

Brilliant! Just between you and me, I have the same “habit” and it causes me to hold on to so much “useful” stuff that I am afraid I will be a subject of one of those Hoarder tv shows. I require everyone who enters my craft room to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Thank you so much for sharing! I feel better. You know what really did me in? Remains of the Day journals. They are so much fun I actually started saving junk mail and looking for free paper tidbits everywhere I go. I actually put the wrapper from one of my Subway sandwiches into a book. It’s time for an intervention.

I love the way your paper towels look. I had a piece of fabric that fell on the floor while I was dyeing other stuff, someone started to throw it away but I kept it. I was just right for this small quilt – even had the line for the bottom of the ‘ocean’.

Thank you, Marci! I’m sure your fabric is gorgeous. I’d love to see that quilt!

There are so many little gifts from our muses, when we take a moment to notice.
