The gorgeous colors and textures of this capelet reflect the artistry of our favorite dyer/spinner, David Gentzsch, of Ozark Handspun. No two skeins are ever the same, but, any combination makes magic. This capelet uses three different colorways together. You will have a choice of “Jewel Tones”, “Neutrals” or “Soft Colors”, each of which will be carefully chosen for you. The three “Soft Color” yarns on the left, below, were used in the capelet shown here and on the right, below.
When I made the first “Lace Handspun Capelet” I prepared the yarn in an unusual way. First I cut random lengths of each of the three colors. Then I overlapped the ends of two strands by about two inches and zigzagged them together on the sewing machine. By the time I had worked my way through all of the strands, I had an enormous ball of yarn and the knitting just flew, with no knots and no need to constantly join new colors! You will be able to choose this “Single Ball” option for an additional $30.00, or receive your yarn in three separate skeins.
The pattern consists of the most basic lace, *yo, k2tog* (yarnover, knit-two-together) with a little bit of short row shaping. (You can do this!!) It is all worked on size 15 or 17 needles and finished with one seam.
Care: Hand wash, hand rinse in warm water. Lay flat to dry. Do not dry-clean. No bleach.
