Marly Mystery

(NOTE: This is an old post that I never published, but the experience is still fresh in my mind. There is no longer any mystery about the end result, but I’d still like to encourage everyone to work this project AND to try a future Mystery Knitalong. It’s an exhilarating leap into the unknown that will take your creativity to a new level.)

This is a “first” for me. It’s ” The Marled Magic Shawl mystery knitalong” by Stephen West. Begin by gathering armloads of yarn from your stash, not knowing how they will be used. (This mystery turned out to be one of the best parts of the experience.) Then try being patient waiting for the first clue………

Clue 1 was a lot of knitting! I can begin to grasp the idea of this shawl, but knowing there are three more weeks makes it hard to imagine the final result.

The next clues find me really grooving on the color changes. This time it’s a bit less stripey. I like this a lot!!

Just halfway through, and this is one big, kaleidoscopic armload!

I’ve decided to go all the way in the final week and add even more width. This is now, officially a shlanket!!
