*Sparks * from Florilegium Volume II
March 17, 2008
Dear Friends of Florilegium: We've had our first breath of Spring, but today Winter has the upper hand. So, I will imagine all the lovely spring bulbs and thirsty trees lapping up the delicious rain and getting ready to burst forth with the first sunshine. Today, I'll dream of  soft, fragrant breezes gently rocking my hammock - which will be loaded with handmade pillows of needlepoint, knitting and crochet- and of course, a stack of favorite books . There will also be a feather-light throw of delicate lace, just in case...

Well, thank goodness for this rainy day, so I can get busy and make all those goodies!!!!! I hope you are all tucked in with your projects and dreams.......

ENJOY! Gretchen

We Double-Dog Dare YOU !!!!!!!

Our new Challenge has just begun, and we'd love to have you join us! The rules are SIMPLE - I'll give you an "inspiration", and you will create something based on the "inspiration".

You do not have to spend a cent, or actually make anything. You can write a story, concoct a recipe, choreograph a dance, build a building, paint a painting, embroider, draw, knit, crochet, recite OR anything else you like...........

On Saturday, May 10 at 12:30, we will all come together at the store and see each others' projects. (and celebrate with Champagne and Chocolate).

Will you join us?

Mountainous RIBBON RANGE Erupts
Ribbonous Mountains II
OR, is that a Ribbonous Mountain Range? Whatever you call it, there are heaps, piles and MILES of it appearing all over the store. It's skinny and fat, elegant and outrageous, simple and rococo, nostalgic and cutting edge (that may be a pun, sorry), and there are at least 102 ways to use it!

FAIRY INFESTATION INCREASES with INFLUX of NEW FLOCK
Fairy on Grapes

This little pixie flew in last Thursday morning. He's less than two inches tall, but he's a powerful presence! I think he's going to be pretty useful around the store, and he's mentioned an interest in sending some of his friends to your house, as well! If you need some Pixie Power, come on in and we'll fix you right up!

My Checkered Past
Crazy Camouflage Checkers
In our last newsletter, I included a needlepoint checkerboard I had made many moons ago. It got me thinking, and there are about 34 new versions I hope to make. This one is knit in a combination of mitered and slip-stitch squares. The checkers are coiled I-cord decorated with crystals. There's also a little knitted and crocheted bowl to hold the checkers. I will be putting the patterns on Ravelry, if you would like to make one, too. It will be called CRAZY CAMOUFLAGE CHECKERS. Email me for a link at floril@florilegium.com
